I graduated from the Institute of the Arts in Therapy and Education in 2020, where I obtained my Master's in Integrative Child Psychotherapy. This training included a two-year infant observation as part of my studies. Before that, I qualified as a social worker after completing my MSc in Social Studies and Diploma in Social Work at Oxford University in 2004. Prior to that, I studied Anthropology at the University of East London, and I have a longstanding curiosity about cultural approaches to health and healing. More recently, I gained a postgraduate certificate in Eco-Psychotherapy and the emerging Adolescent Mind. I am interested in the transitional moments in life and understand the significance of rites of passage. I recognize the importance of marking these key moments as a way to honor and navigate the changes we experience throughout our lives.
I have significant experience working in child and adolescent mental health services in the NHS as a social worker, and as a child psychotherapist and counsellor in schools. I also have experience working with a local project providing support for Young Victims of Crime, where I supported numerous young people through experiences of being bullied and worked with Protective Behaviours. I have a longstanding interest in what supports people in feeling safe, in themselves, and in the environments that they are in. I also managed a local charity called The Art Room, which provided an arts-based intervention for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I was also a mental health mentor at Oxford University for five years, including through the pandemic, where I developed my skills in supporting students in finding ways to manage their day-to-day lives and academic deadlines, stay well, and expand their capacity to feel good. I am interested in how people find meaning in their lives, their sense of self, and their place in the world. I have significant experience supporting people in developing a personalized toolkit they can take into their lives, and I have experience in practicing and teaching meditation, relaxation, and nature awareness and connection.
I am registered with Social Work England and with BACP.
